NGO Donates Food Items To 500 Persons

MINNA: Due to the lowering income level, adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and increasing attacks of bandits in parts of Niger state, a non governmental organization under the auspices of MyFundAction Volunteers Nigeria in collaboration with Madarasatu Abi-Musa Al-Ashariy, Tunga- Minna, Niger State has said that it donated food items to over five hundred (500) beneficiaries in Minna the Niger state capital.

While disclosing that the inability to feed on special recipes like meat is capable of demoralizing families, especially children, the Country Director of the NGO, Dauda Mohammed Thabit said the MyFundAction Qurban Care for Ummah sponsored the purchase of two cows for slaughtering and distribution to one hundred families during the 2022 Eid ul- Adha festival in Minna, Niger State.

While implementing the 2022 Eid ul-Adha (Qurban) Meat Distribution exclusively told our Correspondent that the gesture was because feeding is increasingly becoming the people’s nightmare in Nigeria and many parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

According to him “having enough meat to eat during Eid ul-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) have always been a source of joy for families and their children across the globe and so, we reached out to one hundred families.

“In Nigeria and many parts of sub-Saharan Africa, feeding is increasingly becoming the people’s nightmare, and over the years, the situation has further deteriorated due to the lowering income level, adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and increasing attacks of bandits in villages and even some cities.”

He added that the primary beneficiaries of the Qurban project are one hundred (100), which include: widows, orphans, physically challenged and the downtrodden; and the indirect beneficiaries are an average of 5 dependents per primary beneficiary people who depend on the primary beneficiaries such as children, siblings, spouses and other relatives living with them making it altogether five hundred (500) beneficiaries.

It should be noted that, Qurban is ritual sacrifice of an animal by Muslims at the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage on the days of Eid ul-Aḍḥa, the Feast of Sacrifice.

He further appealed to Muslims around the world, donors and individuals to reach out to as many needy and vulnerable people. Adding that such donations can be channeled to MyFundAction.
